Heather Berlin, PhD

Heather Berlin, Ph.D., is a cognitive neuroscientist and Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Neuroscience at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York . She explores the complex interactions of the human brain and mind with the goal of contributing to improved treatment and prevention of impulsive and compulsive psychiatric disorders. She is also interested in the neural basis of consciousness and dynamic unconscious processes and is a Visiting Scholar at the New York Psychoanalytic Society and Institute.

Dr. Berlin is currently a presenter on the new international Discovery Channel series Superhuman Showdown and a commentator on the upcoming Discovery Channel series Ed Stafford: Naked and Marooned . She has also appeared on The Forum on BBC World Service, BBC Radio 4, and StarTalk Radio with Neil DeGrasse Tyson.

She received her PhD from the University of Oxford and MPH from Harvard University and was Postdoctoral Fellow in psychiatry at Mount Sinai School of Medicine working on compulsive, impulsive, personality, and anxiety disorders.
