Andrew Sih, PhD | Thinking Animals United

Andrew Sih, PhD

Andrew-SihFor the past decade, Andrew Sih, Ph.D., has been an international leader in the recent wave of interest in animal personalities.

Although Sih is, of course, interested in personalities in mammals (humans, dogs or cats), his research has focused on personalities in less complex animals that many people do not think of as having personalities – salamanders, fish, insects, spiders, even snails.

Sih is an ISI Highly Cited Researcher, a former president of the Animal Behavior Society, and a winner of their Quest Award for his work on animal personalities. His work and ideas have often been reported on in the popular media including a cover article in the New York Times, radio interviews, and a recent documentary on science and scientists.
