BillClark

Bill Clark has worked with elephant conservation and protection for more than forty years. His most important achievement was as primary author of the 1989 CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna) proposal to list all elephants on Appendix I. That, in effect, ended legal international sale of elephant ivory world-wide.

A native New Yorker with a Ph.D. in wildlife biology, Bill completed a career with the Israel Nature and Parks Authority, where he was assigned as a delegate to INTERPOL’s Wildlife Crimes Group, which he chaired for four years. He passed another four years as a visiting scientist at the French National Museum of Natural History. He presently serves as an honorary warden and U.S. liaison for Kenya Wildlife Service, and as a coordinator for INTERPOL’s Project Wisdom.
